Salmon fishing

Today, Elsie Reford is known for her gardens, but she was also a great salmon fishing enthusiast. Here, she is with a guide who is holding a fishing net to catch the bounty. The Refords fished on the Mitis River, but they also had a rustic fishing and hunting camp on Caribou Lake, south of Rimouski. 

Did you notice how fine Mrs. Reford’s waist was? In the early 20th century, some women still wore corsets to “sculpt” their silhouette, even if this was less and less common.
