A cliff or a rock?

A beach and a cove at the foot of a cliff, with several canoes floating in the water.

Even in the early 20th century, visitors to eastern Quebec could access natural beaches bordered by forests—a clear break with the urban settings where they lived and worked the rest of the year. This photograph shows the kind of rock formation on top of which summer people liked to build their residences. From up above, the scenery is magnificent, regardless of where you look.
