Ready for action!

Mr. Van Damne was ready to face the wild beasts! At the end of the 19th century, photographers offered their wealthy clients the chance to immortalize themselves in scenes where they appeared to be experienced hunters. The William Notman studio took these allegorical scenes quite far. Here, photographer Stanislas Belle shot a hunter wearing a long fur coat... in the middle of October!
