William Howard Taft (1857‒1930) was an attorney and then President of the United States from 1909 to 1913. Like many American families, he and many of his family members adopted the seaside resort of La Malbaie, then called Murray Bay. Born on September 15, his birthday gave rise for great celebration, which made a big impression on the residents of this summer colony.
